Authentic photographs captured in natural light on original film
With the proliferation of over-processed and highly manipulated digital photos, blending multiple images, adding visual effects or applying artificial intelligence in post production, many photos of nature you see today go well beyond reality or even the visual spectrum. However, Paul has embraced the challenge as one of the few remaining dedicated film photographers with the skill, expert craftsmanship, knowledge, and willingness to do the hard work in the field that is required to capture a truly organic moment in nature on one sheet or frame of raw film, and show proof of it on your Certificate of Authenticity. Paul takes great pleasure bringing these authentic fine art limited edition photographs to you.
Fine Art Prints
The benchmark for print quality today is vastly superior to the time enlargers were widely used. Those methods suffered from a buildup of contrast, grain, color loss, and in the case of large prints, significantly reduced sharpness. Also, the archival longevity of the finished artwork has improved considerably. Now, after scanning the original film, the process to maximize sharpness, colors, and contrast is applied, before final output to the world's finest printers, creating a premium fine art photograph. Our preferred process is superior for achieving the most accurate renditions of nature, with unrivaled consistency, regardless of size. Paul makes every effort to oversee the entire process to ensure that each fine art photograph meets his critical standards of excellence before signing and delivery. If Paul is out in the field for an extended length of time you will be notified in advance.
The final print is typically matched to the original film as closely as possible, although some minor cropping, dodging, burning, etc., may be applied. Some of the images that Paul visualized as black and white were converted from an original color transparency to achieve that vision, but all of the key elements from the film have been retained to maintain its authenticity. Also, please understand there may be a disparity in color, contrast, tonal range and sharpness when comparing artwork to a website, catalog, or published work, since monitors, inks and dyes are all different. The high level of details and quality of a large finished print is highly impactful compared to a computer monitor or publication.
At this time Paul offers a variety of print options—none requiring glass! All of the artwork will be custom-sized to fit your viewing space. Since all printing is on demand, the production process may require some delay for test proofing, but this insures the quality meets Paul's rigid standards before it is inspected, signed, numbered and shipped.
METAL PRINTS: This is a relatively new art medium that infuses dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets, which are scratch and water resistant, on either a glossy or mid-gloss surface. The details, resolution and colors are incredibly lifelike and vibrant. There is an almost endless variety of display options available to meet your specific needs.
INK CANVAS: The image is printed directly onto a specially selected canvas material to give the look and feel of an original painting, but with the added detail that only a photograph can render. It is then UV coated and mounted onto stretcher bars. This product can be displayed with or without a frame.
TRULIFE ACRYLICS: Simply, the finest acrylic product on the market! It offers the ultimate in durability, anti-reflection, vibrance, depth and clarity. TruLife acrylic also blocks 99% of UV light, is scratch resistant, anti-static, cleans like glass and is shatter resistant. Ideally suited in high traffic areas or when trying to achieve a traditional glass mounted look.
Limited Editions
Limited Editions are only offered in extremely small quantities of 1, 10, or 25 to achieve a truly exclusive and collectible fine art piece. 1 of 1's are ultimately decided on a first come, first served basis, depending on availability.
